Great review, Jay!
Very interesting review, I read the book when it first came out , but I never saw the film. As you describe it, as usual the book is better than the movie. Coincidence, Ed Lauter lived in New Jersey some years back, I think he was doing a soap (Not the Soap) in NYC and my daughters used to babysit for him.I will have to find a copy of the book and read it again. Thanks for reawakening an interest in me.
