The butterfly was named by Dr. Showme D. Cash a famous entomologist and dyslexic. Noticing a never before seen insect flying in the air he remarked to his friend Runyon Hyde, "Look at that, ButterFly." He meant to say, "Look at that Flutter By."
Believe it? Why Not?

We had a foreign exchange student my senior year in high school who was from South Africa. He told us we were saying it wrong here -- that the proper word was indeed 'flutterby.' It makes a lot more sense and my husband agreed. We have had a lot of gorgeous flutterbys in our garden this year.
